Welcome, I’m Deb

As a therapist, my goal is to support and empower clients as they navigate life's

challenges, helping them rebuild a sense of self, develop healthier coping strategies,

and foster more meaningful connections.

My approach is relational and compassionate, grounded in respect, trust and

confidentiality.

I work with adults, young people and families and have particular experience in

areas such as grief and loss, self-esteem, anxiety, depression and relationship

difficulties. I also have a strong interest in working with individuals navigating

transitions, identity and belonging.

I understand that each person's history and experiences are unique.

I offer a non-judgmental space where you can safely explore whatever you may be

carrying.

My training spans both the UK and Australia. I hold a Master's degree in Clinical
Counselling with additional post-graduate qualifications in Trauma
Counselling and the Hakomi Foundation. I also hold a post-graduate certificate

in Clinical Supervision and provide supervision to therapists.

I work with clients across Australia, the UK and Europe.

I look forward to meeting you.

Deb

FAQS

Is therapy for me?

Navigating life’s challenges and complexities can be difficult, and many people carry experiences that require care and healing. Talking with someone who is not a friend or family member can offer a safe, confidential space to explore thoughts and feelings and can be highly beneficial.

What happens in the first session?

The first session is an opportunity for us to see whether we feel we could work well together. We will discuss what has brought you to counselling and address any questions or concerns you may have. If, at the end of the session, we decide to continue, we will arrange further appointments.

How long are the sessions, and how often do they occur? And what is the cost?

Each appointment will run for 50 minutes. I recommend that sessions take place weekly as this helps build momentum and supports meaningful therapeutic progress.

Please email me at that-therapist@outlook.com to discuss pricing.

What are your qualifications?

I hold a Master’s degree in Clinical Counselling, with postgraduate qualifications in Trauma Counselling and Hakomi. I also hold a postgraduate certificate in Clinical Supervision.
I am registered and accredited in the UK with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and in Australia with the Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia (PACFA). Both organisations have strong ethical frameworks, which I am obligated to adhere to.

What about confidentiality?

Counsellors are legally required to maintain confidentiality for clients. However, there are certain situations in which confidentiality will need to be broken: disclosure or evidence of physical, sexual, or emotional abuse or neglect. As a counsellor, I am a Mandatory Reporter, which means that any abuse of children under the age of 16 years must be reported to the correct authorities.

How do I choose a counsellor?

Some questions for you to ask

  • Are they qualified?

  • Are they aligned with a professional body such as the BACP or PACFA?

  • Do I feel comfortable with them?

  • Could you trust them?

  • Would you recommend them to a friend?

In your search for a therapist, be clear about the type of person that you want to invest your time (and money) in. There are no hard-and-fast rules. The therapeutic relationship, like all relationships, takes time to build.
